ABOUT ABIGAIL CARMAN

I am an artist living in Kokomo, Indiana, my work centers on the intersection of the whimsical and mysterious. Night scenes inspire me because the dark explores the connection between the ephemeral and the sublime. An underlying calm atmosphere permeates my work, juxtaposed with a whimsical curiosity about the natural environment. Through my use of printmaking, mixed media, and photography, I utilize the blue monochromatic characteristic of cyanotype, which captures the darker hues of the tranquil nocturnal sky. Through the multi-layering process of collage, sewing, and metallic embellishments, I create work that has intricate and personal qualities. I try to work at blurring the line of reality to allow the viewer to reimagine their surrounding in a more enchanting and nostalgic way.
